Bio-Research and Development Institute

Role: Project Designer

The architectural form, plan and site plan of this proposed research and development facility is an abstracted visual representation of the human skin.  The 700,000 SF Institute will conduct advanced research in genetics and molecular biology, neuroscience, and plant biology.  Knowledge acquired by the researchers will provide new understanding and potential new therapies to treat diseases, and prevent birth defects.  The research will also help improve the availability and quality of future food supply.  Designed to be a highly secured facility, this research institute proposal also includes a conference center, dormitory and an exercise and fitness facility.

This concept design proposal was showcased in the book titled “Superlative Emirates: The New Dimension of Urban Design” published by DAAB in 2011.

Design by Howard Chen while at Quantum-AIP as Founding Partner/ Design Director (2009-2015)
